Intimidating TBR Tag

This tag has been getting a lot of attention on BookTube lately and I have a massive TBR (don’t we all?), so I decided to do it myself, on my blog.

This tag is all about the TBR (To Be Read), especially the books that you are kind of scared to pick up or just haven’t.
Let’s get started!

1. A book on your TBR pile that you haven’t finished

That has to be “The 5th Wave” by Rick Yancey. At the time I was reading it, there was so much hype about it and I just did not get it. I found it incredibly confusing and slow. I had to push myself to get to the next page and wasn’t excited about picking it up. When I was about half way through I gave up. It just wasn’t worth the struggle for me and I knew there were so many more books on my shelf that I could actually enjoy.

2. A book you just haven’t had the time to read for

“Mistborn” by Brandon Sanderson. I have started it and I love, love, love it. I just have too much going on to fully sit down and focus on it, especially since it’s very intricate and I don’t want to miss anything.

3. A book you haven’t read because it’s a sequel

“Prodigy” by Marie Lu. This is just because after I finished Legend, I didn’t feel like I needed to know what would happen next. Legend was a solid good book, but I wasn’t that invested in the characters at the time.

4. A book you haven’t read because it’s brand new

I just recently (well not that recently) bought “An Ember in the Ashes” by Sabaa Tahir and I am in the middle of too much to start in right now. I will probably pick it up after I finish some of my current reads.

5. A book by and author you read previously but didn’t really like

Ehmm.. I don’t really have a book for this. Maybe “Passenger” by Alexandra Bracken. I couldn’t get into the dark writing style in The Darkest Minds and I’m not sure about picking up Alex’s other books.

6. A book on your TBR pile that you’re just not in the mood to read

“I’ll Give You the Sun” by Jandy Nelson. I’m just really not in the mood for a heavy contemporary right now. I can not handle feels right now. I need to function.

7. A book on your TBR pile that you haven’t read because it’s enormous

“The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R Tolkien. Because it’s enormous. That’s basically it.

8. A book on your TBR you bought because of the cover

“The Miniaturist” by Jessie Burton. It’s stunning, but I have no idea when I will ever pick it up.

9. The book on your TBR you find the most intimidating

I’ll have to go with “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien again on this one. It’s just scary.

So that was the tag. Looking at all the books on my shelf that I still have to read is actually quite scary and confronting.
